Tourism in rural areas to develop rural economic improvement and poverty reduction

Local NGO Abkhazintercont (AIC) is implementing a small grant project in Racha-Lechkhumi and Lower Svaneti region – “Tourism in rural areas to develop rural economic improvement and poverty reduction”.The project’s aim is to support the development of tourism in rural areas in Racha-Lechkhumi and Lower Svaneti which will increase and create supplemental sources of income and help reduce poverty in these regions.The Small Grants Program – project: “Support Regional and Local Development in Georgia” (RLD) – is implemented through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with additional funding from the Swiss Cooperation Office in South Caucasus (SCO) and the Austrian Development Agency (ADC).
Project specialists are conducting a series of ongoing trainings and seminars in hotel service standards to increase the quality of services for tourists.
